If you seriously think this, you don’t understand the YouTube landscape. Shorts - which have incredible view times - are flooded with AI videos. Most thumbnails these days are made with AI image generators. There’s an entire industry of AI “faceless” YouTubers who do big numbers with nobody in the comments noticing. The YouTuber Jarvis Johnson made a video about how his feed has fully AI generated and edited videos with great view counts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDRH4UBQesI

What you’re missing is that most of these people aren’t going onto Veo 3, writing “make me a video” and publishing that; these videos are a little more complex in that they have separate models writing scripts, generating voiceover, and doing basic editing.

This makes no sense and people are giving it too much credit. What does “produced” mean? How do you “tariff” a movie? When is the movie crossing the border and who’s doing the valuation, customs check, and so on? There’s literally no substance to this and people are tying themselves into knots to make sense of this.

Especially after the recent actions canceling visas for legal, free speech and minor traffic violations, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone to come to the US to study. It's the US's loss more than anything else - a good portion of the cutting edge research that happens in US Schools is done by international grad students.

Yeah, they found another way. The Court said they couldn't do it one way, so they found legal ways to cancel debt. That's not ignoring a court order.

It isn’t all or nothing, products from Temu/Shein/AliExpress are not all “crap”; (and the idea that Chinese products are crap is also seriously outdated). Yes, there’s a lot of shovelware on those websites, but if you know how to navigate them you can get the same products that you’d get from Amazon for a third of the price. I’ve bought bags, tools, hobby equipment etc from aliexpress that has lasted me years and saved literally 50% on average.

I've had very similar experiences in India. Incredibly expensive, well-furnished homes surrounded by streets filled with trash. The people living in there don't even walk outside any more, it's too hot/polluted/dirty for that. They get everything delivered to them or go for work/events in their fancy car.

Apple is actually really fast with repairs. I got my MBP back in about a week when I sent it in under the limited warranty, not even Apple Care.

Yeah, I like using LLMs when I code, but every time I've tried "vibe coding" (i.e. letting the LLM do the whole thing start to finish) it's never written a full, functioning app that doesn't have bugs in the basic functionality. I tried this just a couple days ago with the SOTA Gemini 2.5 Pro - it wrote itself into a corner and when I gave it the logs from my bugs it literally said "this doesn't make sense" and got stuck. That finally prompted me to take a look at the code and I immediately knew what it got wrong.

I've heard this said often, but is there any proof BYD is selling their cars at a loss? And note that I'm not saying R&D loss - is BYD ever selling a car below what it cost to make and sell that unit?
