FWIW, C# generics are way better (ergonomics) than the Java ones (due to type erasure), so Java waited too much. History is more complicated though for Java, since it was either having some generics vs having none. Well, you have to get hired the next year, which is not easy and not instant either. And after doing this a few times (leave after half year), no one will hire you.

Then there is this “little” problem of heath insurance. There are like other gothchas too.

If what you said would be feasible, lots of folks would do it. But the reality shows otherwise.

FWIW, SQL Server had built in queuing support from ~2005. The feature is called Service Broker (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/servic...)
