I’ve been thinking about AI and developer jobs.

It feels like developers who build libraries, frameworks, compilers, and dev tools might be safer from AI replacement compared to people building typical CRUD apps.

My intuition is that tooling work requires deeper systems knowledge and taste, while a lot of app-level code is becoming easier for AI to generate.

Am I wrong? Curious what others here think

X recently switched dark mode from dim gray to pure black, and it’s noticeably harsher on the eyes, especially on desktop at night. The previous dim theme was more comfortable for long reading sessions. Anyone else missing the old dim mode or found a good workaround?

In most ecosystems there’s a “default” backend framework (Rails, Django, Laravel, .NET). In JS it still feels like stitching together Express/Nest + auth + ORM + jobs + queues + config. Why did JS never converge on a batteries-included backend framework?
