Completely unnecessary retort. At no point did anyone in this thread state that sorting legos was a major problem of society.

Rather, the GP merely implied that some parents would love to have a robot to sort their kids legos, and that (ironically) even that unimportant "need" is more important than replacing git.

I have a lot of fun with my old PDP-11s. Being able to run an original version of Unix on a machine with actual core memory (that I restored to working order) is a real kick for me. Gives a sense of depth to the software I run on my modern Linux laptop.

Fun stuff! At one point I wondered about building something similar. But I lack the AI chops, and have too many other projects going on anyway.

I'm curious as to the type of memory in the 11/34. I also have a working PDP-11, an 11/05 with 32KW of actual core. I wonder what performance would be like with EIS emulation grafted in. Stunningly slow, I imagine.

Where is it stated that this is a goal for this project? You and I both may want a way to break the influence of the dominant social media companies. But this doesn't have to be that in order to be successful. It just needs small groups of people to use it in a way that benefits their communities.
