And SpaceX /xAI spent almost $20 B over the last 3 years on "AI" capex and has AI capex and operations costing $10B combined in Q1 2026...

Spending 40B to make $15B/year is a decent investment actually if you can do it for more than ~3-5 years.

So this confirms that SpaceX was making a lot of cash and plowing it back into R&D, and that the X/Twitter/xAI merger is concrete shoes on the good parts.

Also the wargame was flawed because the computer simulations in 2002 allowed the enemy general to put anti-ship missiles bigger than speed boats on the speed boats, and basically 'spawn' the speed boats almost next to the blue fleet.

Also apparently the motorcycle carriers were modeled as having no delay which gave them flawless realtime communications....

This is one of the biggest questions as the singularity compresses the deployment of capital and material resource allocation: if the majority of people aren't competitive with machines, who provides for them and how is that structured?

Local models are ~18-24 months behind the frontier on approximate intelligence, and then like 36-48 months behind the frontier on inference speed for nice hardware.

There are tons of things that can start failing on hardware. I don't realistically expect some LLM usage to materially reduce the lifespan of the laptop, but running it 24/7 for AI usage makes me think that I'm more likely to get 3 years out of the device instead of 10.
