You clipped a lot of incredibly relevant context to make his point sound far more inflammatory than it is.

Is that your view of all AI native mathematicians? It's not mine, but it seems apparent to me that many people think that this is our future, or even should be our future. Same with building software (which is my field, unlike math).

I would find that personally, to use his word, grim.

learning more languages is good actually. I still mostly write imperative code but having spent some time learning functional languages was very good for my brain.

These are two crappy choices, and it's not a coincidence that a resource strapped filmmaker having to engage with many skilled artisans to sharpen their "singular vision" resulted in much better films (the original trilogy) than either of those two.

the 737-max was grounded for almost two years, Boeing paid a $2bn+ fine and the CEO was fired.

To be fair, actual self-driving car business units have suffered similar fates. Uber's autonomy team was shut down after they killed Elaine Herzberg, and GM's Cruise was functionally destroyed after they contributed to a major bodily injury crash and tried to cover up their errors.

It's the level 2 consumer car companies that have mostly skated under a liability shield. Tesla FSD has been shit for a long time and paid very little price for it.

That is definitely not true. There are literally thousands if not tens of thousands of well known domains that do this. .co.uk is a very common example.

It's a problem because of Goodhart's law.

If you train towards the test, you aren't necessarily improving overall fitness, but you are destroying the value of that test over time because you're decreasing its correlation with overall fitness.

They used the phonetic alphabet to categorize a number of different specialties on the BD team, including alpha bravo delta and echo. I never heard the phrase "Delta Force" used in 8 years there 2008-2016.

they are getting better in 2.1. They get bigger and faster with quality, but the biggest win is the ability to direct unload from the landing pad to bigger trains via the new landing pad unloading bay, within a reasonable range of the landing pad.
