Parent comment was making a joke about the political situation between Armenia and Turkey.

That's a bit like chlorine gas is poisonous, but sodium chloride (salt) makes things tasty.

Highly different compounds, that just contain chlorine atoms.

You can probably get denser packing (at least in theory), if you allow rotation. It's just ugly:

I've worked in a company that wrote Java code that needed to avoid false cacheing. It was fairly understandable and the tooling made it quite testable for performance regressions.

However, the issue in the Netflix blogpost is in the JVM C++ code. I think it's entirely possible to encounter the problem in any language if you're writing performance-critical code.

If only it were the case that we hadn't caused massive climate change by burning fossil fuels, causing a severe drought across Europe, so that there were a shortage of simple cooling fluid for the nuclear power plants. If only we could've done see it coming and something...

I didn't know about most of these fermented soy products - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fermented_soy_products

But Tempeh is a pretty common one for vegans. I've used it in curries and stir fries.

Thanks also for the nostalgia trip watching the adverts near the end! I forgot that alcohol and tobacco advertising was on TV back then.

"Whatever the truth is, isn’t it about time we found out?"

Most other vegans I know seem to be very aware of the nutrition issues, and take EPA/DHA supplements and extra vitamins. "Nootch" - nutritional yeast - is also a very common ingredient used to boost vitamins and minerals.

It's of course hard to be 100% sure what's safe, but then eating meat also has it's risks - heart disease, cancer, e. coli. etc - as well as environmental costs.

Going vegan is quite a big step, and most people would benefit from eating a lot less meat.

It must be fun to come up with a hypothesis like this and be able to put some engineering constraints on the likelihood of it.

And then being able to summarise it in a fairly readable 4 pages.

I can't work out what's going on from that site. The tutorial and download sections seem like a placeholder, and the github link is dead, with the user having no related project (publicly).

I found this but it is quite old:

[edit] this is better - https://gunkrist79.wixsite.com/amibian

New comment by delibes in "Traditional female free diving in Japan"

Probably needs a NSFW tag for some tame black and white photos with nipples.

I couldn't guess from the title whether it was female-free or free-diving. It's the latter, which is cool.

New comment by delibes in "How to lower the price of plant-based meat"

delibes — Sat, 06 Feb 2021 20:05:46 +0000

:) There's always one. FWIW I noticed Flora do a plant-based range now that's quite good. They label the 'butter' as Plant B+tter.
