I did a similar workshop between Feb-April (1 hour zoom call on Wednesday, 3 hour hands-on in person every week)
Most of the participants has Windows laptop. (Except one with Mac)
We had suggested Linux on WSL2 and VSCode. (`uv` for python package management)
But realized that we were spending a LOT of time fighting the tools/combination. WSL2 + Windows filesystem + uv did not work well together.
For person with macOS - it was smooth sailing
If I do another batch, we'll use native `pip` and python (not uv) and I think then we won't need WSL2

I am assuming that the second password is like decryption key.
I have saved the second password as "mailbox password"
The way I interpreted is that first password is for the account, so verify I am who I say I am.
But since the emails are encrypted, browser can't show my messages in human-readable form.
Second/mailbox password decrypts it and shows the emails in human readable format.
This is just a guess.
I would love to hear about second password from other/more knowlegeable folks.

Anyone remember polywork.com ?
Their tagline was "Your professional network"
They closed in early 2025
LinkedIn may suck.
Let me retract that.
It definitely sucks (For me - it sucks because of non-professional posts in the feed. memes, political rants, funny pics etc.)
But there are good parts as well.
The most important thing going on for them is they have network effect.
Everyone (and their grandma, as they say) is on LinkedIn
When I was interviewing, I used to check the LinkedIn profile for the candidate as well. (Lot of times, after the interview in case I had good things to say in my feedback form)
Having said that - Best wishes to OpenSpot.

When you read statements like [^1] "I did the other trick: you take your non-Rust job and make it a Rust job." from the likes of Luca Palmieri - what do you expect ?
I don't blame them. If they were able to convince their manager to re-write python scripts in rust, good for them. They got "on the job/real life" rust experience. They solved the "chicken and the egg" problem in rust hiring - for themselves.
when companies can fire engineers when they are in trouble, engineers are bound to "think for themselves"
[^1]: https://filtra.io/rust-mainmatter-jun-24

My resume was recently rejected because I do not have experience building "large scale apps" that serve millions of users.
I have over two decades of experience, but mostly in startups/small-ish companies. Thus most of the times I got to work on "new" projects.
Startups always want MVP that can be shipped/released early, so the "growth" is always iterative.
Most of the times, the product was discontinued and/or startup closed shop.
While I (believe I) have "theoretical" knowledge about dos and don'ts of building large scale apps, it is not same as having "real" experience from the trenches.
They won't hire me because of lack of "relevant" experience, plus the fact that I am senior engineer. If I were junior experience I assume they would not have this "requirement". I did offer to accept "junior" position (I really liked the company I applied for and their product) but I was told they don't have time for "babysitting" and thus aren't hiring for junior positions at all.
So what do you guys suggest I do to gain "real" experience building scalable app ? (In my case, it is chicken and egg situation)
-----
P.S: I am NOT looking for links to posts like "How to build large scale apps using ...."
