Where is API tooling lacking?

The default API tooling that comes to your mind is Postman.

Postman is cloud based - the other offline alternatives are on their way to enshittification with subscription based models.

Is there any solution to the problem or we should all default to curl.

Great to see this space so active.I see this a TUI.

You can also try out Voiden : https://voiden.md/ which has a different approach to this.

Also YAML is a interesting choice - any reasons for this.

Just what I think can solve a problem in my hometown after reading this - I live in Kolkata,India - I dont think we will ever have a data centre here - we still have a lot of water issues - but if building data centers somehow equates to economic prosperity and such stats are shown - probably the city of joy will again regain its glory.

I think for hurl you are simply running/asserting apis. Voiden is for api design,reusability, documentation, and has markdown simplicity - and you can also do pre and post scripts and assertions too!
