When I read AI-generated prose that is aimed at the general public, I have the exact same feeling.

But when I ask Codex a technical question about coding, I don't get it at all. Codex replies to me in a very direct, technical manner, similar to the way I speak.

When I ask ChatGPT to be concise and technical, I get the same effect.

I think it's because prose aimed at the general public has to be very attention-baity --like the textual equivalent of a Mr. Beast video--, not because AI is incapable of writing like a human.

If you sign a contract on paper, I 100% agree. It's fraud.

Signing up for it on a website and checking a box that says "I agree to the terms of service", I don't think carries the same weight. But maybe that's just me.

Except for the cases of credit card fraud, I don't see what's morally wrong with it, for it to be called "fraud".

It's just reselling.

Maybe people are starting to copy Anthropic's rhetoric of "everything that inconveniences me is fraud (e.g. distillation). Everything that benefits me is legit."

I've avoided buying any Lenovo product ever since their SuperFish fiasco.

At the beggining it surprised me that people still seriously recommended Lenovo products (even hackers). Now, my brain automatically "adblocks" the entire brand out when I'm looking to buy a new laptop or monitor, as it knows I can't buy it.
