We rarely use a muzzle for our shepherd but the ironic part is people keep extra distance because it looks so menacing.

Not studies: Somewhat famously Jessica Simpson got accidentally addicted to nicorette[1]. I heard it as a question in NPR “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” (radio-quiz game show) and it ended up being true.

I’ve known many people who used chewing tobacco and were not smokers.

“Just nicotine”/nicotine salts can elevate blood pressure and heart rate which can be very dangerous for some people and long-term bad if not resolved. But by far tobacco smoking is the most physically dangerous which is obviously not the same as “just nicotine”.

It’s not a dataset of one (you’re not alone!), there is a huge corpus of data and nicotine is one of the most addicting substances known to humans. I cringe reading anyone saying “nicotine is great”—because I’ve been there too and it’s literally one of the most devilish things ever.

The article is light on details but crux mostly on Cage not being an “ai-friendly actor”. Not sure if the film would use extensive ai elements or what. On a side note never heard a movie tout its “minutes viewed” by audience.

I think the list is great and hope to come back to this later in case I forget anything. But! I don’t necessarily agree about the “overly formal” part—it definitely sounds good in theory but I don’t (personally) find the Author’s example formal at all. Moreover telling people to “write like they speak” is a good target but seems like a slippery slope, especially when many non-native English speakers (as one quick example) may blog in the language for larger reach or use it professionally.

I think it’s more important to avoid writing cliches and to use words as they’re intended e.g. a task might be challenging but it is not hard—a rock is hard.

Didn’t see it mentioned in the article but isn’t leading with if-statement called a “guard clause”. I like that pattern but it’s just general best practice I thought.

I like marking the date with the stamp of a penny. I knew a builder who did similar on a home and used pennies as washers in a few places— date visible of course. Otherwise good write up and never used a hammer or mallet with angled face
