I wasn't implying that at all, more I was shocked at how a country like America doesn't have high speed broadband ubiquitously available. So it was more rhetorical than anything.

Surely you have options though? In Rural NZ we have a choice between 4g which runs at about 50mbps and latency of about 15ms and starlink which runs at around 100mbps and has a latency of about 25ms.
Both should be good enough for remote work.

You might have to take a paycut even working remotely. A lot of companies now pay what you'd expect locally rather than in a tech hub. So, if you worked remotely from San Francisco you'd earn more than if you worked remotely from somewhere rural.

Wow, we have fibre to about 90% of the population and ripped out copper a few years ago. In rural areas there is government subsidised 4g internet and in the most rural it's government subsidised satellite.
I was in Korea for work and it seemed the same there, I was even in eastern Europe visiting family and it was a pretty similar story. So I figured it was pretty universal. Although I know that Australia isn't in a good space with broadband simply because of politics and companies not wanting to work together, I'd assumed they were an outlier

We've even lost our post offices, I couldn't tell you where a post office is in the city I live in, they've been slowly disappearing for the last ten years or so. But small businesses like service stations and convenience stores often are post agents.

That's a good idea, one of the tough things about banks closing - espeacially in small towns where there isn't any around for miles, is the elderly struggle with technology.

Interesting that they say the number of tellers is up because the amount of branches is up, because where I live (New Zealand) it's practically impossible to find a bank branch now days, they've all been shut and replaced with internet banking and ATMs. I can't remember the last time I used a cheque, for instance, probably 20 years, so the requirement to physically go into banks is low, but when you do need one they're not around.

No, there is a lot of transparency and oversight, including to any member of the public, and ultimately the government sets policy. I can just request any document, and in fact I used to work in the public service where a coworker would frequently request any correspondence about him by staff or managers under the official information act. He was paranoid but had the ability to do it.
An example is during covid, the government set policy around what could be done but the police were ultimately in charge with how they enforced it. Additionally New Zealand has a culture of egalitarianism and community. While there is growing inequality, there isn't an elite yet.
The government provides checks on the public service and the public service provides checks on the government.
Another example is the treasury prevents the government going into debt unless there are extreme circumstances and a plan to get back into surplus. The government can't just cut taxes and up borrowing to buy votes, they need to be fiscally responsible and that's controlled by the treasury.
Ultimately New Zealand has a reasonably direct, accessable, and transparent form of government which represents the community that it serves, it is rated top in the democracy list for a reason.

Sorry, I meant the lack of an overarching constitutional document gives more flexibility as it's not one thing which is held up as an almost holy document. The closest we've got it the treaty of Waitangi.

Yes, we have laws that's why we live in a society.
People that work in the censorship office don't make calls based on morals, that make calls based on policy, they also face mental health challenges and get the support needed to a look at this content without radicalising or breaking down.
While pushing for your right to view the video, you're also ignoring the rights of the victims. How is it that you're right is more important than theirs?
