From a "we live in a civilized society" perspective, I can see why some people are outraged about his killing.

Finally, looking at the balance sheet of his accomplishments, I can also see why the pitchfork crowd is cheering.

Yes, it's possible that it came from a place of wanting to help.

And, after the offer was spurned, the kindness was immediately replaced with wrath, at "how dare she turn me down?"

So, both can be true: she can be kind and helpful, but also petty and vindictive, and unable to see other people's perspective. Being permanently surrounded by sycophants and yes-men/women will probably distort most people like that.

I think this is starting to play out.

When I personally see a blog post which didn't need an image, but still does have an AI-slop image banner, I mentally check out. I might have Claude summarize it, or (more likely) just skip it altogether.

I truly hope you are proved right by history, but I'm concerned.

However, the person is also sufficiently self-aware to share their thought process (and candid about its shortsightedness).

To me, that made it worth reading (even though it has a sad message).

FWIW, I often lurk, but sometimes engage (like right now). Perhaps it could happen to me and I would not realize it for a while...

This is prescient -- I wonder if the Big Tech entities see it this way. Maybe, even if they do, they're 100% committed to speedrunning the current late-stage-cap wave, and therefore unable to do anything about it.
