Senior backend engineer available for contract, fractional, contract-to-hire, or full-time opportunities. I have 30+ years of experience building and operating production systems across startups, SaaS, media, financial services, telecom, and public safety domains. I've worked in both early-stage and growth-stage companies and enjoy owning systems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and operations. For the past 13 years I've focused primarily on Ruby on Rails backend platforms, APIs, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and production reliability. My experience includes backend architecture, distributed systems, database performance tuning, cloud migrations, DevOps ownership, and operating customer-facing systems in production.
