Decompilation allows to fork, but scaling the fork and making it maintenable on a long time scale is a technical challenge.

The FSF succeeded at changing the mindset towards more collaboration.

I agree that this also allowed to divert efforts from research on reverse engineering tooling by reducing the needs.

But AI is game changer for reverse engineering, so no secrets will be hidden in binaries.

In a way, this is a merge of an alternate branch of history where RE would be more powerful.

As long as you continue to use (and upgrade) the Biwarden client apps, you should consider that BW could have the keys of your garden: they have control of decryption and encryption code, so that code could leak the key, whatever the server.

That already somewhat exists.

Reimplementing the server side is the easy part.

But a commercial offer will need rebranding the client, and maintaining forks is much more involved. As long as Bit warden publishes the sources ...

May I ask about your trust issue regarding Google models?

Is it about quality issues (lack of guardrails, agent runs dangerous commands)? I have seen first-hand Gemini-cli going out of the project directory and using my home directory as a work area.

Or is it about terms of service?
