Nope. The article’s assertion is that governments will start to put enormous pressure on tech companies in their borders to include backdoors in their systems for LEO use. This in turn may lead to “nationalized” software e.g. what Russia and China largely do now, but in many more countries. You may have no choice but to use phones, computers, and software that is backdoored by your government - everything else will be illegal.

I think it’s more useful to apply OP’s question to about real, established businesses that already price products at the market rate. Not companies riding an unsustainable speculative bubble and playing pricing games in a desperate attempt to attract and retain users who they can later upsell or raise prices on to show “growth” and keep getting investor money.

That’s why that’s not the standard advice. It’s index stocks hedged with bonds. If you manage to buy at the “top” of your entire country’s economy, you’ve got bigger problems at that point.

Wow. I love being reminded of stuff like this. Those cars were so cool.

Edit: I took one of these cars apart as a kid to see how it worked. This site brought back a lot of memories. The little coil spring inside the gear. I have to get my hands on one of these now…
