Alright so the claim is that "hackers" are constantly scanning the internet in search for vulnerable systems and a few minutes is enough for the "hackers" to find it and infect it. There are more than 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses, assuming a probe takes like 10 seconds to identity the IP, it would take more than 1000 years to scan all of the internet. Even if you use a distributed botnet it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Ok let's ignore that and assume they found the XP machine. Typical viruses and Trojans require the user to download and execute an infected file but this assumes unattended infection. Not saying it's impossible, as there are exploits that can open a back door but dedicating so much time and effort to hack an old machine that is not a high profile target seems unlikely.

> This will continue until at least 2100 when numbers may finally peak and then fall.
That's due to the higher fertility rate of countries like Niger, Angola etc which far outpace the declining rates of most of the rest of the world like China, Russia, Europe, Japan, South Corea, USA, etc.

I see a lot of comments here focused on their individual experiences and opinions, which is fine. But on those comments I see a lot of people saying they won't have kids. Which individually is their choice, but collectively, combined with people who do have kids have them older which can lead to fertility issues when they want to have them, combined with the increase in the number of people who is LGBTQ+ which again it's their choice and nothing wrong with that individually, but as a species we can see how these factors combined, and other factors, are the cause of drop in number of children born in all countries. I recently read that in Japan there are more adult diapers sold than baby diapers because of drop in births and increase of aging population. This seems to be driving us to extinction as a species, just food for thought.

For me it's not worth the effort to self-host, plus figuring out SPF, DKIM etc. Not being included in a blacklist because your server's IP address is on the range of a spammer... I use Mailfence for a couple of emails with my own domains, works well

If you're going to use KeePass, do it right and use KeePassXC (that's what I use). It's cross platform. I sync the password file between my computers and my phone and I use KeePassXC client on my phone as well. And I use a completely different KeePassXC password file for work related passwords which I keep on my work computer. How many times have Okta and LastPass been hacked already?
If you have some really sensitive passwords you could have your password file inside a Veracrypt container. Also, you can use a key file (can be anything including an image) along with your password for added security.
