Principles are by definition aspirational. The idea, I'd say, is to always have them in mind and get as close to them as possible.

Unfortunately if you don't start out building the application from these principles, the tech debt piles up, and then it's hard to recover.

I guess it depends on your definition of "behavior?" For example if the config is the endpoint address of an external resource, it's not really changing the application behavior per se.

There's something so ... bland about this typeface. I get no feeling from it whatsoever. It's like the textual embodiment of the AI conversational style.

Yeah clearly there are alternatives, and plenty of musicians are able to find them. If you're already an addict though, there's not much stopping you from continuing that lifestyle, other than the ability to secure the next fix.

Re the drug addictions - another thing to note about touring musicians is that there's a lot of downtime. New cities every day, not much to do until your show in the evening. Pretty easy to slip into unhealthy habits.

Those people are not artists though, they're athletes. I think with the word "culture" the author is mainly referring to forms of art such as movies, music, tv, and literature.

There is a cable show "The Food that Built America" where they do discuss the candy bar battles of the early 20th century, and specifically the Mars family drama. It's not to the production level of an HBO show, but pretty entertaining nonetheless.

People are using the UX systems though, just that it's the agent that is gluing them together now. Under the hood, it's still React plus component libraries like shadcn, lucide, tailwind, axios and so on.

The agents are so good at this, there's literally no point in not doing it that way.

We used to do this as an interview question at my current job. We didn't expect people to solve it necessarily, and we just specified to solve for a single elevator car. We just wanted to see how people would break down the problem.

Even at that relatively reduced level of complexity, it's quite tricky to figure out how to prioritize who gets served when.

I was confused by that too, but then I thought maybe the new replacement was commenting that using javascript in the app would provide more work for contractors, which he perceives as a good thing. So not using javascript provides less work. I could be wrong though.

For me, the central entity of "social media" is a person or personality.

The central entity of forums, such as HN or Reddit, is topics.

Sometimes there is crossover between the two types of entities, and of course there are exceptions to the rule, but I find it to be a useful way to discern what is social media and what isn't.

Remember when Fox was sued by the voting machine company for libel (or slander, can't remember which), after Fox supported and broadcast claims that the machines were rigged against Trump in 2020, and Fox argued that nobody should take what they say seriously, because they're merely entertainment.
