They have a ton of rfds publicly available that are worth reading. Recently, read this one: https://rfd.shared.oxide.computer/rfd/0161 because I'm researching clickhouse for my work (there is also a podcast ep on it). Even if you never use their hardware, just reading their work around the software they use/make is incredibly valuable as an engineer.

Someone should make a browser extension to label HN posts with Pangram results of the top 100 posts, so I don't waste my time reading crap.

Always a pleasure reading Bryan's writing; it's like Bryan is sitting there with you and saying the words (hard to convey the feeling).

Damn, not blaming you for job losses. Indirectly influencing upper management isn’t your fault. That’s on them. I’m saying if you look at what strongdm preached it leads to tokenmaxxing.

Bruh, come on. Not directly is the best answer I have for that. Unfortunately, they didn't read your article carefully, because the idea of productivity gains was all the candy they needed to jump in the van.

Yes, Strong DM. How is that different from tokenmaxxing? Because of the article you wrote, a few companies went to them and starting adopting their methods and guess what happened in a few weeks into that process? Upper management started tracking engineers who weren't using AI enough (~1k a day). A few engineers got fired because they were slow to adopt StrongDM's process.

It's hard to read this take seriously, when you promoted a company spending $1k per engineer per day on LLM usage.

What a weird thing to say. The phrase “outsourcing to India” being used as shorthand for “you don’t need top engineers.” The nationality stereotypes are mean and degrading.

Thanks!! Those are solid numbers but confusing. He reported input, output, and cached input token reads but not cache writes/cached creation input tokens? Maybe cache writes aren't a thing internally?

Where is the cost breakdown? I feel like this would be the easiest number to determine and write in this post. It's hard to believe that there have been no problems/downsides since the port.
