I don’t understand all the technical challenges, but I sure hope we can close the gap between what we can do in the browser versus an app. What apps do is gate communities and gate information and gate people and this is the opposite of an open Internet that should be a benefit to humanity.

I don’t really have a reason to use WordPress anymore. I’m about halfway through switching my site over to something else that I can control with github and AI. Now these boats are mostly getting static files unless there’s a reason to show something else and even then the footprint is very small. There’s just not that much to hack.

I don’t think they’re strong evidence that it does anything beyond helping you build muscle. There are some people say they think clearer, but I don’t think that’s been measured in any significant way.

I find their models are pretty good for answering every day questions, and with their large user base, I’m sure they’re getting lots of usage.

It does seem like their releases are getting closer together. I get the feeling they realized they were trying to roll out to their entire ecosystem and now they’re focusing more just directly on the AI model itself. I think give it a little time and they’ll start to be one of the competitors too.

Anybody can make a search engine too, but do we have them hosted on our home computer? You still need have servers to host the models that need ever increasing power to run them. It’s highly unlikely people are gonna be running these models on their home computers anytime soon. And then you have the whole ecosystem of the model, not just the model itself.

What continues to bother me is just that developers who don’t have the budget are pretty much pushed out of iOS development because they can’t afford a Mac. And every time that Apple increases the price of their products, more people are blocked from being able to develop on them.

For me, cannabis causes anxiety, and it’s pretty well established that anybody with anxiety or bipolar or schizophrenia should not be using cannabis because it can make these much worse. I don’t suffer anxiety anymore, but there’s plenty of scientific evidence about the relationship between anxiety and cannabis use.

Absolutely for the average developer the token speed is just going to be too slow for it to be workable. I think we’re looking at 2028 when memory becomes cheaper again and they’ll be a lot more people using local models.

If it’s not quite as good as the hype yet, I expect it probably will be in the near future. To do a lot of the primary coating tasks needed for most situations, it’s probably gonna be good enough if it isn’t ready. The harness will be there as well.

We’ve been in sort of a golden age where massive money is getting pulled in and consumers are getting a great deal. That’s not going to last, and surely surveillance and personal information are going to fit into the formula for success for these companies. It’s very similar to when Google was a brand new search engine.

So when the FBI comes to Claude, it will be that much easier now to track down exactly how they have been using the LLM. Maybe a political candidate for the opposing party has something embarrassing there for example.
