There’s good points in this article, especially for new engineers who may not understand what the AI is writing.

Also, “lazy” in coding often means you’ve automated something and made it efficient. So I don’t view lazy as bad.

Less careful is a concern. Not everyone is great at reviewing code. However we’ll be using AI for code reviews and security audits soon (obviously some are already). I suspect code quality will improve with AI use in many domains.

I wish this article acknowledged the problems with connection earlier on. Clearly the author can focus and reflect online, but many (often) cannot. I like the idea of improving how we spend our online time, but the reality is disconnection is also really beneficial. Time in nature is beneficial. Real-world contact is beneficial, and that is becoming more difficult for many to achieve.

This resonates with me. A massive change in perspective. A second reason. Supposedly under very strong doses, psychedelics can result in massive reduction of the ego-centric systems in your brain, so you can experience life / nature “beyond” yourself and feel more connection. Some people can do this naturally and thus maybe don’t psychedelics. For others it’s very insightful.
