Is that any different to taking a day off work to go to a protest? Both situations have you losing money in order to bring issues to light. Same with union workers going on strike.

I think he's the outlier. Most people I know own 2 belts; one for casual clothes, one for dress pants. Shoes is normally casual shoes, work boots/dress shoes, hiking boots/running shoes, plus flip-flops or slippers. I think I've only met one man who had that many shoes, and he was really into fashion and collecting sneakers, so he had probably 50 different pairs to make sure he always had some that matched his outfit.

One way to make your clothes last longer is by checking to see how often you're supposed to wash them, and air drying them if possible. Things like jeans really only need to be washed a couple of times a year unless you're spilling stuff on them or being very active and sweaty in them. Growing up, the conventional wisdom was that you always had to wash something after it was worn once, and you were being a slob if you didn't (for some reasons hoodies were exempt), but it turns out that isn't true.

They could just remove it if they can't tell, same way a bouncer will throw you out of a bar if you don't have ID.
I don't know why people are giving social media companies a pass on what goes on just because their job is hard. Nobody is holding a gun to their head and telling them that they need to run an unmanageable platform, they wanted this many users.

Depends on if it was actually toxic, or just full of people who want it to be toxic so they have something to fight against. I recently read a book by Alan Watts, and he said that one thing that liberal and conservative morality police have in common is that they don't actually want things to improve things, it's just the justification they use to try and control people. If either group were to "win", they'd just find some other cause to be upset about.

The politicians talking about firearm violence don't actually care about fixing it, they just say things that their base wants to hear. For example, the democrat congressman from my district in MD sent out an email talking about trying to fight the epidemic of gun violence by banning assault rifles and high capacity magazines, even though pistols are used in the vast majority of shootings. A few years ago the MD state democrats also blocked some laws that would have imposed harsher punishment on people who use handguns in crimes because they said it would disproportionately affect minorities. They didn't want to look like they weren't doing anything about gun violence though, so they banned bump stocks, even though they have never been used to commit a crime in MD, and the ATF says the functionality can easily be replicated with a rubber band or belt.

People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them 59.99 for a game is a bargain compared to the amount of value you get with modern titles. I remember buying Nintendo and Sega games for the same price. Magazines only covered the biggest games, so the most informed you could be as a consumer is based on how cool the box art was, and most could be finished in an afternoon once you figured out the cheap mechanics designed to force you to start over.

Yep, they were pretty short, and a lot of them had no save feature so had to be finished in one sitting (unless your parents let you leave it running and just unhook the coax cable so they could watch TV). I remember going to a local game store that would let you try out used games in the store to verify that they worked, and I actually beat a game at the store.

Nothing you said is relevant to what they're talking about. This is about Apple trying to redefine commonly used words to avoid any discussions about limiting free speech. It's like when Verizon claimed that "Unlimited" is just a marketing term, and doesn't actually mean no limit.

I'd much rather the protagonist be silent in an FPS. It ruins the immersion for me, unless there are dialogue choices so I still have some agency. I quit playing Dishonored 2 after a couple of hours because the protagonist keeps talking as a way to narrate things for the player, but it's just silly being a stealth assassin constantly talking to yourself.
