The loop and LLM is the runtime, the code on disk/in git is the external state - and the session (dumped and loaded as json) is the image.

The LLM terminal/chat is the repl, and the shell language is natural text input.

Something like that?

Interesting. But the styles chosen for hyperkitty displaying the archives is quite awful. Probably want either fixed width font or sensible reflow.

I found a lot of the points in the full post interesting - but I'm not sure I agree with everything.

In particular, I'd love access to:

for all my hosting needs. Meanwhile we see the typical information leaks of private ai chats ending up in Google searches etc.

You say that as if the culture difference with a truly alien intelligence is insignificant compared to the culture difference with an "overseas person".

(Even assuming "intelligent" is a sensible label to apply to an LLM holding hands with a shell script in an infinite loop)

Worst part they're too easy to accidentally check in to source control - and they bring user/workstation dependent settings into the work tree, rather than tuck them away in something like $HOME/. config/appname/local.env

Maybe. How does the application unify different environment variables? Those inherited by the shell, those read from .profile, those set in the process that start the application (be that ./run.sh, a nodejs script, systemd etc...).

Yes, it's a single point of failure by design - but has been pretty stable mostly - with this and a previous attack in June being exceptions.

The identity portal is administered by the department for digital services, but hosted at a commercial provider, Vivicta (formerly TietoEvery, formerly Tieto and Every - Consulting companies from Finland and Norway).
