Hi HN,

I’ve been having a lot of fun building Docking, an open-source dock for Linux written in Python with GTK 3 and Cairo. It includes an extensible applet system, 38 built-in applets, 12 themes, multi-monitor support, auto-hide, and works across several Linux/X11 desktop environments.

It also has prebuilt releases for x64 and arm64 across multiple package formats: AppImage, .deb, RPM, Flatpak, Snap, Arch, and Nix outputs.

That is simply not true! Use of mechanical farming and fertilizers/pesticides can be beaten in productivity by permacultural practices. One example in France that has been followed by researches (and has produced several papers [1]) is the Ferme du Bec.

It is able to produce multiple times more and more qualitative (organic), for the same area than the national average mechanized production in France.

The pesticide industry and mega farmers want you to believe that what they are doing is to produce more food, but that does not stand the fact check of initiatives like permacultural ones.

It is laughable talk about "Don't Repeat Yourself principle" on a strongly biased towards Golang article. A language that took 13 years to add a simple method (Index) that helped the programmer to find an element in an array (slice). Before that you had to write a for loop every time you wanted something from an array. Talk about "DRY" ... That is everything but "simple" as described in the article.

I wonder how this will be sorted in the future: what if Stability comes with a newer version, on top of Runway's one? I forecast a never ending battle of versions numbers as both teams have the same trunk of work.

Virtualbox 6.0 had PCI passthrough on Linux hosts. I was using it. Then I have updated to 6.1 to discover that they have removed it. I am afraid of going to 7 and see that other things are missing too :-)

I remember struggling with Bazel and Tensorflow for months! I just went to see how things are and it seems that things have not changed much in years, e.g.: https://github.com/bazelbuild/bazel/issues/14639 This is kind of project that you won't probably need soon, unless you are really being paid extra money for the suffering.

Isle of Flowers: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097564/ It is one of the best, if not the best short-documentaries (13 min) made in Brazil.

It starts by telling the saga of a tomato, that is planted, goes to the supermarket, rots and then goes to the garbage dump site. From there it uses an acid humor to talk how tomatoes, pigs and humans (that live by collecting food from the dumping site) are different.

"The Art of Computer System Performance Analysis: Techniques for Experimental Design, Measurement, Simulation and Modeling"

I have seen so many errors on computer science benchmarks and experimentation that I think this book is a must read when it comes to "how to compare things" in computer science. It goes from the basics to advanced scenarios. I have really great memories of studying quantitative methods during my Master's Degree and reading this book. It is really an underrated book. The confidence it gives when you base your experimentation/benchmark on the theories this book gives is amazing, whatever your audience is you can step in and present the results feeling that what you present is really what it is.
