Embrace the concept of a talent stack. List the things you love and/or are talented in. Enumerate subsets of this list to find things which combine as many of these things as possible.

This maximizes the amount of what you love that you get to do, and it puts you in a niche where you are uniquely well suited.

First time I’m seeing that link (56 days later).

So the distinction between ban and shadow ban seems pretty minor. Anyway zero warnings and I’ve posted no “ideological” material other than fully in context responses to posts.

Again, same here as Reddit. Mods didn’t like a particular political association with a post so made the choice to label it ideological and ban me.

As someone who is shadow banned, the moderation is no less strict here than on Reddit. Your experience will ultimately depend on a mods particular mood or sensitive topics.

Crypto companies are hungry (desperate even) for genuine talent, but they only have the pool of people who either believe in crypto or are willing to pretend for a big paycheck. The former are by definition a bit inexperienced / naive, and the latter aren’t passionate just greedy.

I’ve considered being one of the latter but have concerns it will ruin my resume. Also doubt I could stomach lying for money for long.

I lost two jobs directly due to COVID and got $0 “stimulus” while my sister was employed the entire time and got an absurd amount of free money.

It wasn’t a stimulus. It wasn’t COVID related either. It was income redistribution. I might respect it to some extent if people called it what it was.

I’d make it an inline function and call it multiple times per loop iteration. You should be able to pull some of the initializations out of the loop and fetch multiple at once, pipelining using different registers. Optimizing compilers have gotten good enough to do the right things much of the time with intrinsics but it still may benefit from hand writing.

Sometimes you can even eek a touch more speed with prefetch, but it can be tricky to get that right.

Another thing that matters a ton is whether you’re microbenchmarking it accurately. It isn’t trivial to do so, as you should mimic real memory / cache behavior as opposed to repeatedly having it fetch memory which is already cached and give you misleading results.

For me it is, I would find it deeply depressing to watch movies and be unable to discuss the experience with others because they got different characters and plot lines.

I use them sometimes for component or sequence diagrams. I’m usually really happy with the result and get positive feedback for going to the effort. But stick to the 80:20 principle instead of diving down a UML pedantry rabbit hole.

Which is the tolerated here? Allowing abortions or not allowing abortions? Because obviously this phrase can be applied to both making it rather useless as a rationalization for either side.
