Hey yall, so I've kinda started understanding why people tend to hate on AI, I found myself in a situation where I would stop thinking myself, I stopped evaluating whether my issue could be fixed by just using my damn brain. So I just wanted to stop for a few months, just see what will happen. Tho my biggest issue now: I am a Full-Stack Dev and of course I could again write my code 100% myself, tho using Tools like Claude for writing pipelines tests or even features you are to lazy to do yourself is pretty cool, cant lie about that one. Now I'm asking myself the ethical question whether its fine using AI in that field because I still "boycott"/stop using AI in other fields... What are yalls thoughts on this one?

Hey HN, so I got a few friends that completely hate on AI, which I partially get, AI-Art is taking jobs and looks ugly, but what is too much for you and how much AI do y'all use? Id like to understand the people that hate on AI, but most of the time their arguments are water usage, tho they all eat meat and buy new clothes which can be read about here https://bryantresearch.co.uk/insight-items/comparing-water-footprint-ai/

Also another question would be if being vegan/vegetarian would make AI usage less 'bad', or if its just a general hate

Ask HN: Anyone got a deauthentication attack script?

Hey HN, I know this might sound sus lol, but I'd like to learn more about cyber security and today I've managed to build an arp spoofer today which cuts off network for anyone but the host (me), tho a deauth attack script seems to be more of an effort and I couldn't find anything on GitHub, any ideas or links?

Hey HN, I've recently released the first version of my anonymous p2p, end-to-end encrypted Chat-Messanger Seal, its basically Discord but without any of your data being stored anywhere, the only thing ever reaching a server, is your public id linked with your username and due to technical limitations we also have a relay set up which will be used if the user is behind a NAT, or Firewall. Feel free to check out all the features in the readme. :)

Hey HN, Id like to learn more about cybersecurity and wanna test around a bit, ive used tool like net cut a lot a few years ago to troll my brother when he was using all the bandwidth, but id like to actually learn how it works and how those tools do stuff. Does anyone have links to good guides or wanna share their own knowledge?

It depends, it can be... But tbh just set up a cronjob (auto repeating task) that refreshes your ssl certificate via certbot and you should be good to go. The initial setup might that a few hours of tinkering, but once you've made it you can easily have a mail server for $1-3. If you really don't wanna fully self host you can buy a Plesk workspace for like 99ct-5$ which allows emails, websites and databases

I really like using Claude for writing docs, sum up texts or search causes of big logical bugs that would take hours to debug, tho I hate the fact that you don't know how many tokens you have left, what the actual limit is etc. They just give you a damn percentage that tells nothing, id like something that is first of all cheaper, has the same or better thinking and just actually tells me my limits.

Is there anything like that?

Just no. The EU literally just passed regulations requiring AI-generated content to be clearly labeled, and youre out here trying to make the internet even more sloppy and untrustworthy than it already is, cool project....

Ask HN: Ive built and open source P2P chat without back end

Is this even something people want? A friend and I built a fully secure p2p end-to-end encrypted chat messenger with groups 1:1 chats and calls, every message is fully encrypted and sent directly to the other person. The only backend existing is a directory server which lists users by their public id (the fingerprint of a Ed25519/Curve25519 keypair) and name. There is also a relay which is only used tho if the user is behind a NAT, or firewall.

Is this project like even needed or is it something that ive built for fun and can leave alone, does anyone see a real use case for this?

As iyamani said this aint Stack Overflow, but:

Either check if pip exists via py exec. (python -m pip install package_name) or bootstrap pip using ensure pip (python -m ensurepip --default-pip)

Last option would be cloning from source and running python setup.py install

Really interesting idea, had fun testing - tho tbh it gets repetitive and slow after a few minutes, power ups or other ways to interact with player would be cool.

Fastmail natively supports JMAP, is pretty cheap ($3-5). I always like selfhosting either at home, or using a cheap VPS - iRedMail, MailCow etc.

I don't think so, its being reinvented, due to the massive AI boom, people can easily create 'their own' tools, tho ive realized building your own software needs updates, fixes, patches etc. which take a lot of time. So no, people try around but in the end most of them go back to the bought tools

Hey y'all, I've built a completely free open-source p2p Messanger in my free-time. Most 'private' messengers still rely on central server infrastructure to queue and hold messages in an inbox - that makes it a target for metadata or message collection.

With Seal there is NO Server-Side Inbox: Every Message directly travels from peer to peer via libp2p. Every Message is 'sealed' using Olm (1:1) and Megolm for groups via vodozemac The only server needed is a directory server, which purely acts asa short-lived adress lookup table

The Architecture is interesting too, your chat identity is an Ed25519/Curve25519 keypair generated locally, your public ID is simply the key fingerprint.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the project.

I used Claude to help draft the initial code comments explaining the reasoning behind key architectural decisions, but I manually reviewed, audited, and corrected every single comment.

Interesting, tho I gotta ask how much of it is done by ai/what role AI played in this project, because Claude even added itself as co-author lol. Will check it out later
