That makes sense. The title initially sounded like a general llama.cpp speedup on Apple Silicon, but if the improvement comes from fixing kernel selection inside Virtualization.framework VMs, that distinction is pretty important.

The timeout idea is interesting. If firmware can strictly bound SMM execution time, would that actually eliminate this class of attack, or just turn it into a crash/DoS instead?

The interesting part here is enforcement. Linux isn't controlled by a single vendor, so I'm not sure who the law would actually target.
