It will happen, as long as people don't get language models are a glorified google search. They predict what they should say based on what they read.

If what the read is nonsense then they will predict nonsense.

Give an example of software that exists for decades and never had an exploit. You might say basic OS tools. The OS might not be secure then; giving internet terminals to everyone in the world is just a stupid oversight; the best is probably a combination of both having internet when needed but most access to it to be through an extremely thick layer of firewalls (e.g. only system administrators updating stuff should be exposed to the internet for software involving airport security).

Stuff like that are mainly the realm of the compiler. Unless you talk chiefly to compiler programmers. Exception is writing special asm code of course or other adjacent things.

yep, this current meme of "AI" is stupid. it's only a statistical analysis of old data; a glorified google search; most of the time I hear "but it found stuff better than googling" it can be explained by a simple "you didn't exactly google it the right way [or generally look for info elsewhere another way]".

It's true that the lack of choices back then (other that spezzit) contributed majorly to the migration. But I also think a new paradigm entirely is needed for social media after the fiasco of all the centralized ones, decentralized social media.
