The dotcom boom (it wasn't a crisis) was about putting brick and mortar stores online and making shopping more convenient and price efficient. The younger generation was much more enthusiastic about shopping online, and being initial drivers of it. I remember the $25 off (no minimum order) coupons to basically get free stuff every week. The older generations still preferred to go to a store. It was a much slower progression taking 10-years for the older generations to become comfortable with shopping online.
AI is being driven by the more enthusiastic older generation (in my view) and it's not just about taking a fraction of brick and mortar sales away, it's about systematically replacing the full breadth of white collar jobs, especially the entry level jobs. You know, the jobs that college grads are vying for.

The store had pre-opening for the past 2 days. I drove by on Wednesday and the parking lot was completely full with folks parking across the street and walking over. I thought I would be able to stroll in and get the free USB drive but ended up not able to visit yet. Talk about pent up demand!

Inverse Jim Cramer ETF closed 1 year ago due to lack of interest, sheesh.
To follow Pelosi, just look up the public record on the government website. It tells you the date and the product he used. Then just look up the chart for that day and look at the price range.

I'll save everyone hours of headache. The only politician's disclosures that are worth anything are Pelosi's. And by Pelosi, it is actually her husband that trades but that she has to disclose those trades as a politician. You can also copy Pelosi's trades exactly if you are into speculation and you can experience first hand how many of his trades end up -30% or more, but over the course of the year they have a chance of gaining. They gain not so much because there is any meaningful insider information, but because he holds the position for 1 year and we are still in a bull market (even as of tonight).
I think it's amusing that folks think that politicians have any sort of capability to be able to consistently beat the S&P 500.

Author using AI as a form of algorithmic MDMA to get in touch with her feelings. I can see how she selects AI passages of deeper reflection and inspection.
Yes, it feels fake from the surface level to pick from words that AI generates. But the same principle applies to a psychologist's suggestive words during a consultation, IMO.

> So we've never celebrated a pregnancy
I’m sorry to hear this and it must make you sad every time you think about it.
I think it is very difficult to go through life, experiencing all of life’s milestones in the way we might wish.
Another example is in those fortunate to celebrate a work retirement party. Others may fall ill, take leave and quietly retire without returning to work and have no retirement party.
Life seems unpredictable, unfair. Knowing that makes celebrations of life, when we can have them, much more special.
