If you accept the idea that police have a monopoly on violence in civil society, then I can see where the police would be concerned about being exposed to violence from non-police actors.

I saw a Reader's Digest from wartime that proposed stripping Germany of industry and make it a rural agrarian economy.

The USSR did its part, stripping out select industries and moving them to Mother Russia.

New comment by euroderf in "We have LLMs now. Why are the docs still wrong?"

euroderf — Fri, 09 Oct 2026 03:26:07 +0000

It might be slop, and it might be an ad, but the question it poses is entirely valid. But it does make me wonder if it undercuts the value prop for component-based content mgmt systems, because an LLM can cover an entire diverse documentation base effortlessly, without using components as a crutch for managing complexity.

You young people have it so easy now.

Back in the late 60s (IIRC) two songs from the radio stuck in my head and would not move until I found out what they were.

One turned out to be Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. Finally finding out what the song was was fantastic. The other turned out - after at least two decades! - to be "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" by Napoleon XIV. It seems nuts that a song would have such an influence on a young mind and be on tap, waiting for recognition, for so long.
