Thank you for the suggestion but yes, I already know it. I've even written a FLE syntax highlighting plugin for vim: https://rz01.org/vim-fle-syntax/ :)

This. I don't think it is coding although I have only scratched the surface of all this. Right now, it's more like instructing someone/something to code for me.

Hi HN,
the post "How My Images Are Dithered"(https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49006096) made me think about my own website and I was also considering dithering or half-toning all images. But then I noticed that colored images somehow made the text take a back seat. That makes sense for some posts, but not for all of them. Still, individual posts looked a bit inconsistent. After experimenting a bit, I realized that I like the whole website much better when all the images (and the text, too) are in grayscale. The images look more like the photographs you’d find in older technical books rather than vacation photos. While I have converted all images themselves, I also have added a CSS filter in case I forget to convert a new image in the future. What do you think?

Mostly because the "damn this is interesting" to "i don't care what you ate yesterday" ratio is not good enough to spend my time on it. These days I am much more enjoying exploring gopher holes, reading and writing blog posts. For realtime communications, I prefer IRC. For me, social media sits in between chatting and publishing content and is therefore neither fish nor fowl.

Anything can be taken from you at any time. Google can also just delete your account for no obvious reason. I guess that a domain can also be taken away but maybe not that easy. At least you can switch mail providers easily without having to change all your accounts that are based on your mail address.
