The government has far more ways of financing things than taxes. I’m not sure why we refer to money this way—it’s fundamentally disingenuous. A federal budget is not the same thing as a household budget in any way.

They have zero positive consequences for anyone but manufacturers.

How many times in your life have you thought “damn I know what I want to buy, I just don’t know from which site to buy it”? That’s hard to imagine of anyone. Not only is the VNC redirection unnecessary, so it is the entire filesystem. You could just render the vm directly to the window and boot a read only image. Plus then you don't have to deal with VNC.

I haven't been on board with the "journalism" of the last fifty years, but this hasn't exactly prompted it to improve. Newspapers still have advertisements. Subscribers still have no say over editorial staff. The board still has say over the editorial staff. It's all fucked unless we can punt private ownership out of the equation.

It's the same reason why white supremacy is still relevant despite the color of skin being less important: it still ties into the impressive rhetorical power of colorism and the implicit introduction of "others" that allows the oppression of the general population for not being "civilized" enough, as if the word had any meaning to a person whose brain hadn't been turned to porridge by interaction with finance bros.

This "efficiency" relies on the assumption of writing off the entire battery set at sale. That's not impressive at all.

Right, but there was a point at which we could stop people from doing stupid shit because it's useless and they're bad with money. Now it seems we've embraced irrational and misanthropic spending as a core service.

We honestly just need to take money away from people who obviously have no clue what to do with it. Using AI seems like a perfect signal for people who have lost touch with an understanding of value.
