<p>I just did a BOTE calculation for my iPhone (A17 Pro chip; GPU rated at 4 Tflops). According to the sales blurbage in TFA, the Cray 1 performed at 80 Mflops. (Yes, that is OBVIOUSLY not comparing apples to Apples -- pun intended). Unless I've dropped a decimal point, my iPhone is (capable of) 50,000 times the floating point speed of a Cray 1.<p>In my back pocket. To watch cat videos.</p>

<p>I need the brights at night for deer (in N. America) and kangaroos (in Oz).<p>Steering them away automagically from oncoming traffic is a better solution than abandoning them altogether.<p>(And yes, I do have cataracts. So oncoming lights _are_ a problem for me.)</p>
