It says similar.
“ Stearates are salts, or soap-like particles. Manufacturers coat disposable gloves with stearates to make them easier to peel from the molds used to form them. But stearates are also chemically very similar to some microplastics, according to the researchers, and can lead to false positives when researchers are looking for microplastic pollution.”
Stearates aren’t microplastics. Maybe we need to be concerned with stearate pollution too.

Author admittedly didn’t know how to scale his app for thousands or hundreds of thousands of users. He jokes about it working great on localhost or “my machine”.
Not knocking the premise of the post. It probably works well for one single user if it’s an iPhone or Android app. But his 100 power hours are probably just right for what he ended up launching as he iterated through the requirements and learned how to set this up through reinforced learning and user feedback.

I incorporated OpenMeteo into a project recently and got frustrated with their aggressive rate limiting. If in the US, weather dot gov has an excellent, free API. Or, OpenWeatherAPI which works internationally and has support for more things that weather dot gov does not. OpenWeatherAPI will also synthetically provide weather data based on their models if there is missing station data

If it wasn’t for groups, events, and marketplace, I wouldn’t use FB.
Marketplace has supplanted Craigslist near me.
Events - no good replacement. Meetup isn’t as ubiquitous.
Groups - nothing as good except maybe groups.io. But, that doesn’t have the same common folk. It’s still more niche.
It could be that middle America is catching up where big city America has moved on. And maybe that’s the demographic that FB is serving now.
