Exactly. Forget the AI aspect, this is entirely to identify users for any purposes they deem necessary. People are ignoring the surveillance state aspect of this. Reminds me of the device id debacle they have attached to their outbounds Windows network calls

Making life easier for yourself and your team is a big one for me, so I totally agree with you. Some times people don't complain about things they should be complaining about, because they don't know they can change them. I find that most big ticket items that unblock devs aren't code related but organizational which can in effect turn to coding issues.

I assume it's because Go is so opinionated? I experimented with it and found it almost boring to write, but I strangely loved it. Now in the AI era I crave the forced uniformity.

It would be cool to see agentic interpretation of function and variable names. It can see and track the flow of data a lot faster than a human can so if given some context, maybe it could synthesize names for them.

Makes sense, I wrote something in Rust a few years ago to allow multi-player netplay on any emulator and it was surprisingly easy to write

In the age of AI, I very strongly feel Electron will succumb to eventually fading into obscurity. It's clunky, resource intensive, and a PITA to work with. Getting Claude or other frontier models to write a WinUI/ Swift app is going to be common place and preferred over Electron for most use cases. Electron filled the gap of being able to write desktop apps but only being armed with JS knowledge.

A company I worked for wrote a kiosk app in Electron, which was a focal point of the business. The pains the devs encountered with development and support is a perfect example of "just because you can write it in JS doesn't mean you should"

I don't even know what's left to say. This administration's actions are going to sow so much distrust in the US as a leader in innovation that I don't see how it can recoup its losses. We heard for decades about China being the leader in tech but it never seemed to take hold, but now it feels as if we're deliberately handing them the torch and telling the world not to trust us anymore. It's pathetic and despicable. All I can see is US tech jobs suffering in the foreseeable future as we lose out to Chinese innovations.

Nothing says capitalism like writing laws to stop the competition needed to fuel innovation.

This is one thing I can't stand about current LLMs. I can't put my finger on it but AI written English is so obvious
