That's cute, but do you mean something concrete with this, aka are there some non-coding prompting you use it for that you're referring to with that or is it simply a throwaway line about L5 SWEs (at a FAANG).

(FWIW, I find myself using ChatGPT for non-coding prompting for some reason, like random questions like if oil is fungible and not Claude, for some reason.)

fta: The biggest unsolved problem is making it work well on all kinds of music.

The wickedness comes from wanting something that works just as well for John Summit as the Grateful Dead as Mozart and Bad Bunny.

But it seems like you could cheat for installations where the type of music is known and go from there. The other cheat is to have a "tap" button, and to pull that data and go from there.

mental note: the thought "it can't be that hard" when obviously it is sent me down a rabbit hole for a couple of hours

Hm you could do like five degrees of vibecoding. Level one. You laboriously still look at the code and the diffs being generated. Level two: You sometimes look at the code being generated. You have a feel for how the classes are architected together but don't know the details. Level 4. You're aware of the classes and files in use, but beyond that, you have no idea what's going on.

Level 5. You just spit stuff at the LLM and have it shit out code that you have zero clue what it's doing. You don't even know if you're using react or not!

It's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison, but the fact that a usb-c to HDMI cable has something like 100x more computing power than the AGC still blows my mind!

This is entirely theorical, but the $2.6 billion figure that's commonly quoted accounts for all the failures as well. If I took something that's proven in Europe but wouldn't get a patent, it presumably would manage to pass FDA regulations, it's just that without the patent protection, there's no financial incentive for an existing company to do that.

Injected BPC-157 to a wound is a magic healing potion as far as I'm concerned. That it's not more broadly available is a crime, imo. If I had a billion dollars, I'd push so many things through the FDA.

A series of tarballs is really unwieldy for that though. Even if you don't want to use git, and even if the LLM is doing everything, having discrete pieces like "added GitHub oauth to login" and "added profile picture to account page" as different commits is still valuable for when you have to ask the LLM "hey about the profile picture on the account page".

If you do not know the code at all, and are going off of "vibes", it's vibecoding. If you can get a deep sense of what is going on in the code based off of looking at a diff every ten commits, then that's not vibe coding (I, myself, are unable to get a sense from that little of a look).

If you actually look at the code and understand it and you'd stand by it, then it's not vibecode. If you had an LLM shit it out in 20 minutes and you don't really know what going on, it's vibecode. Which, to me, is not derogatory. I have a bunch of stuff I've vibecoded and a bunch of stuff that I've actually read the code and fixed it, either by hand or with LLM assistance. And ofc, all the code that was written by me prior to ChatGPT's launch.
