All the attention is on AI but the real vulnerability is the dependency on email and office functionality provided by Microsoft 365 and Google workspace.

For the many European organizations that don't have the capacity to self-host, what is the sovereign alternative? Is NextCloud good enough? I believe external email accounts are still required.

None of it seems to be as simple as Microsoft 365 where a new hire can be onboarded from a single control plane for email, cloud storage, web meetings and office document functionality.

Characterizing the Houthis as a race cult is bizarre. They are a Zaydi Shia group which Iran has cultivated over the years. But they were around before that relationship and would not disappear if that relationship was severed.

Also it's dishonest not to include the actions of the Saudis and the UAE when discussing the Yemen conflict. As well as the sustained U.S targeting support in bombing the hell out of that country.

A lot of people use LLMs to clean up their sloppy text. Not realizing how fake it makes them sound. non-native speakers lacking confidence in their English are a type of llm abuser. It doesn't necessarily make the content fake.

Here is one approach for the frustrated end user forced to deal with OneDrive: Create a local user account and do all your work in there. Periodically manually upload important folders to your OneDrive workspace. Manually upload relevant files to shared team folders. Keep the Microsoft Edge browser as your SharePoint workspace. Work on shared Office artifacts through the Edge browser. Use Chrome or Firefox for everything else.

Results may vary depending on your organization's configuration and policies. You may get labeled as a rogue employee.

But if you keep code synced with GitHub, keep Confluence docs updated, stay responsive when shared docs need your input, people might never notice.

The failure modes of OneDrive outweigh the wins for many individual users.

It may be good enough in the aggregate from the perspective of IT admins.

No catastrophic failures, just a steady drip of confusion, friction, frustration and lost productivity for the users.
