Where did my meat go? a common question butchers get when a customer is surprised at the retail cut weights compared to the live animal weight. I made a tool you can share with your customers to manage these expectations. Happy to hear your feedback.

many small meat farms struggle to find a partner to turn their animals into retail cuts. I grabbed a list from USDA that's poorly presented and added a better interface to search the list. Thanks for your feedback in advance.

my interest in animals has waned as I've aged.

I believe this is because I didn't know how to win another thing's affection. A dog just gives it to you. Unconditionally.

Facing Fears and Learning to Code

g_langenderfer — Sun, 02 Aug 2020 19:47:46 +0000

In 2017, I read about AI beating professional poker pros. I felt a stab of fear. My work as a trader was similar. I thought: am I next?

I channeled that fear into teaching myself to code. I moved to Medellin, Colombia and got busy grinding youtube tutorials. This led to paid freelance work through Upwork and a bootcamp TA position at the University of Texas.

I learned that fear is a signal for change. I harnessed it to propel myself forward. And, I learned I'm more powerful than I thought.

Feel free to reach out if you're facing similar fears and not sure what's next.

Farming doesn't strike me as high margin. This increase in costs could send many farmers out of business. That will push up food prices.
