I hear people complaining about Windows shoving ads at them, then you have something like this from Google that makes me ask why would anyone in their right mind want to use an OS like this? Seems built to hook you into Google's services.
I guess there are some people who want to be locked tightly in an ecosystem which will be a lifelong dependency for them. Meanwhile Google extracts thousands and thousands of dollars from the "user" over their lifetime.
Oh I get why they do this now...

Yes we work from there, it's not bad. My company rents a small office for 6 and we get credits to use while traveling. (I worked from Seattle, Colombia & Chicago and they all feel pretty similar). Staff is nice they are pretty accommodating to your needs. Personally would not mind if more independent co-working spaces took over, but I'd also be sad to see staff there lose their jobs.

I think one important benefit to consider is that these projects can be seen as an attempt to correct historical wrongs done against native people in these areas.
Imagine if you were a Yurok person and your people lived for thousands of years, as a unique culture, and where substituting off of salmon was integral to that culture, only to have foreign invaders remove you from your lands, put you on reservations, and effectively destroy the lifeblood of your people by damming the rivers. Now imagine how after several generations this would damage your people as a group economically.
Given that history, it seems strange to question that the Yurok people might have financial "benefits" from this kind of project.

Without knowing a whole lot about it, admittedly, I've always speculated that the vast number of different soaps and cleaning products that we buy are completely unnecessary. I've started buying Bronners or other concentrated soaps in bulk and using them for various things. Is there a good place on the web to get home recipes on making this stuff into different products (like a shampoo/conditioner for example). As for hand soap, imo nothing beats raw castille soap as it gets my hands super clean compared to most store bought hand soaps.

This is a very well timed post, it being Thanksgiving here in the US :). Intrigued by this project but I don't see it supports the scale I just purchased (Eufy by Anker P1 smart scale). Will have to dive a bit deeper to see if it can be made compatible.
I think it's important to note the limitations of these kinds of scales for tracking body fat percentage. From what I remember reading, the technique they use is a measuring of electrical current though the body and then it calculates body fat percentage based on the resistance it detects.
The problem I've read about is that these scales tend to only send electricity the legs and not the entire body, which does not give a great reading on many body types. (I'm not an expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong here)
I think I've seen some other devices that incorporate electrodes on the hands in addition to the feet for a more accurate read. Would be great to see this kind of device added to the project if not already done.
I have always been more interested in measuring body fat % than body weight personally, as there is nothing more depressing to me than standing on a scale befuddled by my random weight fluctuations :).

As a white American who grew up with indian friends/family who traveled in India for the first time, I was pretty shocked at how different it was than I expected. It's Incredibly diverse in terms of language, religion, culture, ect and I can say that It's the only county I've visited that I left feeling I knew less than before I came.
