it's funny how we keep solving the same problems over and over. While we have these great frameworks why is it so hard to make a product that has desktop, web, mobile and tablet options. If anything development seems slower and more costly now then 10 years ago.

Volatility seems the name of the game and impacting the tech heavy nasdaq the most so far. Canada is a tech-heavy location for many US companies. How will this hurt recruitment or cost those companies to employ at the same levels?

This raises a good point that you have to use these apps for a good exp. Their apps usually do good caching, preloading and good display. Now in a browser you have some more controls over cookies and things. The apps can get around that more.

If you can I would recommend making sure you can do some backend work to. I started in front-dev and expanded into backend. Backend devs are often seen as more valuable as that manages the biz logic. You can argue if that's right or wrong but it is what it is. As I look for people I appreciate folks who can do one area very well and want them able to do multiple areas, especially in a startup.
