PV needs physical resources that aren't for free or unlimited. PV needs space. Most energy used has still an high negative impact on the atmosphere. Low efficiency somewhere is energy potentially wasted that could reduce carbon emissions somewhere else.
Heating is waaay more efficient with heat pumps. Aviation... Well who can still afford it...
There are other forms of storage as well, e.g. hydro, heat storage, and many more
I'm not saying it doesn't have it's uses, but efficiency is important

It's cheaper, but the costs are external costs (calculated for the next 100 years about 600 Euro per ton of emitted CO2).
They could be internalized by CO2 pricing, such as CO2 tax or certificates

True for your new project from scratch when you already sucked up C++ such that you know what&when.
But at this point you know C++ pretty well (including all what you don't want to use, take a look at the CPP Core Guidelines), and using Rust is almost trivial, since Rust doesn't really introduce anything really new you wouldn't be already familiar with.
At least that was my experience.

I wonder how you would build an encrypted messenger like like Element (app.element.io) without SPA style.
I think it's not even possible, since you are required to process incoming messages client side and must not send any private keys to the server.

I haven't said that something isn't an app, unless it can go long periods of time without server interactions.
Generally, server interactions are arbitrary with SPAs, while SSR will happen all the time.
Going only a few minutes without server interactions in an interactive app is a big leap compared to SSR.
PS: I not only can pull that off, but I did.
It's not too hard to think of apps like that. Consider e.g. Vscode

> a bit of extra text
Doesn't really sound like an application, but a website.
In a web app it can happen that you use it for an hour without the backend doing a single thing.
> There are only fewer languages to deal with if you aren't in charge of writing backend code.
You don't have to deal with them at the same time

The Rust Windows API provides a cast method to jump through the inheritance hierarchy.
Previously, additionally, all base class methods were generated for derived classes (structs).
This was removed due to high compile times
https://github.com/microsoft/windows-rs
