In some places, I see people do that. It’s not stupidity. I learned the logical reason after observations. During busy hours in some busy buildings, there isn’t enough elevator capacity. Therefore, if you want to go down to the ground floor, taking a trip up and then down might be better (a less-bad worst case outcome, or even a better average outcome) than waiting for a non-full downward elevator. In such case, it’s logical to press both up and down.

Previously working command needs to continue behave the same way. Your original proposal was intended to provide backward compatibility (your third point in original comment), and that’s an important part of why it could work.

Modern day code agents would clone a repo and read the code when you ask it a question about an API that’s not clearly documented. This vulnerability is real.

In metropolitan areas, people want to be close but not too close to train/metro stations or railroad/tunnels. 5-10 minute walk is ideal. Anything closer, people have vibration/noise and crowd/security concerns.

In US suburbs, a lot of people are going to drive even if they live next to a train station. So there’s no convenience or property value benefits. To them, they only see downsides.

If you need access to both apps from China and websites/apps from outside China, non-Apple devices have been difficult before this, primarily due to push notification infrastructure.

This makes it more difficult. But I don’t think it matters given how difficult it was prior to this.

Based on my reading, Apple’s cut of non-IAP purchase only applies if you sign up for the new StoreKit External Purchase Link Entitlement, and the cut only applies for purchases through the Entitlement link.

1 and 2 can be addressed though.

It’s easy to ban right-turn-on-red on a specific intersection. People sometimes do not see the sign, but new-style electronic no-right-turn signs addresses this. https://www.orangetraffic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/LS2...

It’s also legal to have red light cameras, so they can be installed.

Since 9/11, one cannot apply for a US visa if they’re in US. In the context of US immigration, “visa” grants entry, “status” grants stay. If you’re in US, and need to change “status” to a different category (business/leisure, student, etc), you have two primary choices: (1) apply for “change of status” in US, or (2) leave US, apply for a new “visa” in the new category, and enter US using that new “visa”.

A dental hygienist (those people who do maintenance cleaning at dentist’s offices) told me that saliva quality is key to cavity and periodontal health. The ability of keep all teeth moist prevents plaque/tartar build up. I don’t know how true that is, but this at least provide an alternative hypothesis to the two that you listed.

I thought the root causes of 737 Max failure is (1) marketing’s choice to make a new plane that pilots with existing 737 certificate can fly with little or no training (2) the lack of a third sensor.

Why is this the software engineers’ fault?
