I agree with you but for a different reason. When the ai generates exactly what I asked it to but it isn't working, I need to think and figure out what I really want rather than what I previously thought I wanted.

It's really not clear to me from the announcement what exactly this is. The PR about treating GPUs as an "investable asset" makes my skin crawl, and the participation of 5 giant banks really doesn't help.

I'm a little confused. She follows describing people with good/bad taste immediately with the statement that there is no system for taste. If it is all relative, then how is she determining that someone has good or bad taste? Is there anything between moral relativism and mathematical proof? Just your own ineffable belief that you are right?

The boom cycle looks like it's going to last a while, but it never lasts forever. If the current memory manufacturers all conspire to not build more capacity, I'm sure someone else will (eg China).

It's not just the reader engaging in the work, but the author. If the author can't or is unwilling to put in any actual work, and also lies about it, I've lost all respect and interest in them. Saying you only care about the message and not the messenger is sort of like saying you only care about the words coming out of your friend's mouth but not your friend.

It seems like a pretty normal behavior. Just look at the whole tabloid industry that follows actors and musicians around. You might like bland architectural paintings, but knowing they were made by Hitler sort of changes your impression.

I feel like the majority of ai use by normal people is through Google search, so that's kind of a win.

I'm confused by meta's capex though. Are they planning on becoming a cloud provider, or just throwing money away like with the metaverse?

It sucks but I'm not sure there much I can do about it personally. If/when the banks stop supporting browsers completely, I'll be glad I have a phone that can install the app
