>But on the other hand, I hadn't logged in in nearly a decade!
This is the cause. With a long dormant account, facebook has no real content to show you. Your friends will almost all be dormant as well, even the facebook pages and groups you were part of are likely to have fallen silent. Facebook will feed you directly from the slop firehose rather than show you a blank feed.

All ads are searchable. They found the exact words and phrases that regulators used and then made sure those were clean.
>As a result, Meta decided to take the tactic global, performing similar analyses to assess “scam discoverability” in other countries. “We have built a vast keyword list by country that is meant to mimic what regulators may search for,” one document states. Another described the work as changing the “prevalence perception” of scams on Facebook and Instagram.

I'm glad to see you use "most of this war", acknowledging that Israel has at times totally blockaded all food and medicine from Gaza (and not for logistic or military reasons, but as a pure pressure tactic as stated by Israeli officials).
https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/02/middleeast/israel-halts-gaza-...
And it's true, Israel is not required to accept aid from other countries for Gaza. They could instead provide the full required resources for civilians in the occupied areas themselves.

Having to call/visit and social engineer an employee is an order of magnitude more work than just logging in with stolen credentials, which can be entirely automated. SMS 2FA is valuable when it can prevent credential stuffing attacks. It's a vulnerability when it can be used to reset passwords and recover accounts.
