The proposed measures under the bloc’s Digital Markets Act, or DMA, would give access to ranking, query, click and view data to enable third-party online search engines to “optimize their search services and contest Google Search’s position,” according to the Brussels-based commission. If adopted, they could entail opening up that data to Google’s biggest competitors in AI, such as OpenAI and Anthropic PBC.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google said its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant can now proactively tap into users’ data across Gmail, Search, Photos and YouTube, an attempt to make its consumer-facing AI product more personalized.
Google has made Personal Intelligence an opt-in experience, meaning users must choose to turn it on — and they can choose which apps are connected to Gemini. For example, you could set it up to ignore your search history but factor in your email, photo library and YouTube viewing history.

> What is their SEO dept doing to get ahead of Bloomberg in Google search results?
I thought ET/Hindustan Times etc showed up in Google Search results since I search from the region. But if they show up before Bloomberg/FT/WSJ etc for other regions too, then ET's SEO team is doing something terrific.

Agreed. Mid-sized/smaller players are the places which have very poor data & security practices. Especially when they require PII as part of their operations.
Meta, Google are much better stewards of their users data. One misconception I see is claiming these companies sell user data. I'd instead say that they sell user attention.

Uber/Ola at Indian airports do not actually assign you specific driver/car. You are given a PIN & asked to go queue at the relevant counter (Premier, Electric, XL, Go etc). You just get into the car then, tell your PIN & the ride starts.
