I've been in a similar position. This is a transactional relationship with hard boundaries and it is good not to look for more in it. The best strategy is to be fast, professional, and to funnel them in a way where they can help themselves. Publishing roadmap and providing community forum for support works for some and others just cannot be helped. Live with that and carry on. No human connection will make them pay ten time the money, so just being responsive and reliable will make you the goto provider for the particular need.

Maybe if your product would get more valuable if you were connecting users together and you were moderator of the community, it would've been different, but it is quite different product to sell.

Your title promises a story about the spanish traders. It does not deliver, but talks about 3 other different topics that I'm not interested in and jumping between them to test my nerves. If it is about the architecture of whatever you are doing, put the architecture in the title and don't make your title an offhand comment somewhere there. Fucked up clickbite.

The fine is for activity in the EU, so compare it to their business there. Comparing apples to advertisement fliers is useful only if you are using the fliers as toilet paper substitutes.

the gp asked for confiscation and property rights are pretty fundamental. especially if you are acting as a trustee not only for russian money but for many others who are watching how you are doing your job.

confiscating money is much bigger deal than you can imagine. Russia and the EU are not officially at war and just taking money because you can is a serious violation of fundamental rights.

Currently reading a web novel called The Years of Apocalypse. Very similar vibe and though it does not have the same literary aspirations as this one, also goes deep in the existential horror of the time loop and the alienation of your old self pinpoint in a constantly moving away past. Time loops are a fractal like that - a very simple idea and one chooses how deep to examine the repeating pattern. Also, seems to follow similar tropes in order to maintain some momentum.
