<p>My rule of thumb is that if you want to keep your code clean, always returning an empty collection is preferable to returning an empty response on that branch. You don't need a guard clause to null/undef-check before consuming the result. The rule applies whether we're consuming the response from a repository or an http request.</p>

<p>To my understanding the main problem is DynamoDB being down, and DynamoDB is what a lot of AWS services use for their eventing systems behind the scenes. So there's probably like 500 billion unprocessed events that'll need to get processed even when they get everything back online. It's gonna be a long one.</p>
