I think you're seriously underestimating how much it would cost to run an operation like this and how little it would return them. As well as how quickly it would be discovered if done at a rate higher than coincidence.

Hi!

Sorry, yes this is an interface I quickly put together myself using Agora's APIs. I was live for a few hours after posting yesterday. I'm surprised to come back and see the post has some upvotes/interest, so I'll go live again for a while in case anyone sees this.

This is kind of an experiment. Advancements in near-zero latency WebRTC broadcasting mixed with good old iframes have made possible a streaming environment where streamers and viewers can play third party games together without leaving the platform.

This works well with multiplayer games that require no sign up and can have private lobbies shared via a URL. The options now are limited, but it's easy to imagine a future where such games are built with the platform in mind. Games could support the platform's usernames, streamer/viewer distinctions, etc.

Ask HN: Why don't publishers with ad networks route ads through content domains?

In the eternal battle between ad networks and ad blockers, I'm wondering why ad networks who are also publishers haven't taken the obvious route of hosting ads on their publishing domain? This would make it significantly less easy for me to block their third party script domains.

Specifically, why doesn't YouTube put their video ads on the same domain as the videos themselves, or even embed them dynamically in the videos at request time? Why doesn't Twitch stitch their ads into the live video stream?

I know for third party sites this isn't possible, because ad networks don't trust them to report honestly and want their own scripts running. But for the sites mentioned, and others like them, I haven't been able to figure out their reasoning for not doing this.

My software/service makes a web dashboard from a single crontab-like config file which contains scripts to run at scheduled times (whose output is displayed on the dashboard), scripts to be run manually with any arguments (converted to forms that be filled and executed on the dashboard), and dashboard display info for all of them. So, a generic but simple admin dashboard for any project which could use that and is open to experimenting with something new (hence side-project).

There's a political illiteracy in our politics (I'm including Canada, but more prevalent in the US it seems) that says fascism is hitler himself and the swastika and nothing else.

I don't buy that some people are so naive that they can look at a website like this, the white supremacists who obviously occupy it, and think it's a good spirited joke by normal non-racist people. White supremacy is on the rise, and it's scary seeing the denial tactics make their way to Hacker News.
