Your game just told me "Ponzi" isn't a word. I feel like Wordle wouldn't have done that, and anyway at least it has the courtesy to say "not in word list" which is very different from the outright lie that your game just told me.

"I'd be fine with removing all the LinkedIn examples from the website, but I'd like to continue building Browserflow..." -- my advice is to do just that. IANAL but you will be in the right (not always the same as being on the right side of the law, but more important imo).

You are begging the question.[1] The question wasn't "what is the cause?" but rather "what is the solution?" which you fail to answer, as in: how can we prevent "the media" from pushing faux moral intellectualism? Note, I'm not addressing the question of whether that's the true cause or not. But, assuming it is -- what can be done about it? Is calling out "the media" on HN enough?
[1] in the older sense of the phrase; nowadays most people use it differently, but it originally meant ~"answering without really answering".

I can relate. My strategy for work/life balance has been 1. get hired; 2. work hard while learning new stuff; 3. slack off; 4. get fired (layed off); 5. goto 1
Not that I recommend it, just fwiw. Contract work with time between gigs might help, if you can afford the medical premiums (in the U.S.).
Also fwiw:

"It seems like this forum is full of people who have traveled a similar path: starting with big ideas and hopes for their future, sometimes being able to achieve those but through a tremendous amount of time and effort. Or, have realized that a certain amount of money, free time and family is all they really need." -- I think you could replace "this forum" with "this world" and it would still be true. At this point in my life I don't mind admitting: I'm in the latter group.

The story I heard (I worked at Borland briefly in 1999): Microsoft would send a limo to the Borland HQ to pick up engineers for interviews on their lunch breaks. Borland sued, Microsoft settled for many millions, but basically instead of buying their rival outright (for assimilation into the Borg, lol), they just bought the talent. Last I knew Borland had changed names at least twice (Inprise, Embarcadero) and still existed, in some remnant form.

The thing that really ticks me off about those captchas -- besides that it seems I'm more likely to have them forced on me when I'm on a VPN, so presenting an AWS IP to their server -- is that sometimes they think I'm wrong about, e.g., which square has an image with a bicycle. No! It's YOU, captcha algo, that are incorrect! Your images are wrongly labeled! Grrr, so annoying :-(
