I get where you are coming from, I assume most of the "code" in the linux kernel is driver code?

That being the case my understanding is splitting this project up is not only a technical challenge but a legal one.

You could make a common API for driver code, this would make the main driving force of linux much weaker.

Nvidia tried to stay out of tree for years and was dragged kicking and screaming upstream because they needed the reliability.

I'm saying the very thing you are calling out as a problem is currently what is forcing everyone contribute to the mainline kernel.

Without centralized leader ship the facturing of the linux kernel would be a disaster.

lying about the license to linus probably wasn't a smart move for AGPLv3 adoption. In my experience the virality clause is the main reason those projects don't get used therefor sponsored.

I thought a solution to this would be to use a physical smartcard to store the certificate(perhaps on your government ID). if the protocol is a challenge/response and the private key never leaves the card it would make proxying without the physical card more difficult.

It was never about the code, all that really matters is does it work.

I do qwen3.6 on an amd ai max laptop getting about 6-10tok/s it’s slow enough that I can follow along. It has issues with design and large piles of code. Otherwise it’s a good programming buddy.

I have had issues where the Frontend team is unable to explain how to communicate with their SPA, they say "just use this package/just run node" and are unable to explain the workflow in primitives.

Then they just validate on the front end, and we validate on the backend.
