To add the UWP APIs were always less than the win32 ones in the name of security.
The issue was they didn't give you an alternative they just said don't do that.
so inevitably at some point you decide to just write it in win32, don't ship in the store, etc so you can get things done.

I feel this so hard.
It's all win32 underneath except for UWP, which is now deprecated.
so the answer is win32, raw winproc.
The issue is they haven't made a new GUI API (only frameworks) since win32.

Satya Nadella's obsession with Azure and online services has basically removed all say for local development, if it doesn't use azure he doesn't care.
I think he needs to be replaced before his obsession kills the golden goose that is windows.

Comments like this make me feel like we are living in different worlds, I have KDE/Wayland on multi head machines with different DPIs and laptops.
KDE has been the smoothest most reasonable desktops for a long time, I play games they just work, I can make zoom calls, they implemented device recovery.
How are you experiencing this, are you rendering in software?

Because it's the most popular & flexible cross platform user space compositor:
- unlike QT it's free for commercial use.
- I don't know any other user land GUI toolkit/compositor that isn't a game engine(unity/unreal/etc).

Yeah I think the embedding are describing what can be seen from a picture of the model not what it is or what it is used for.
search some things work like "Fan" but others don't so you can search for
"plate with 5 holes" but not for specific engine part cover.
